Merry Christmas-PPA 253 and Merry Monday #160

May 30, 2015

It is so hot today and I really don't want to be out in the humidity, so I went into my craft room and made a card for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge and the  Merry Monday Challenge.

The sketch this week, threw me for a loop.  I think I spent longer creating the panel than I did making the rest of the card.  But, that is why they call it a "Challenge!"  WOW, Pals, you did make this one difficult!  Merry Monday wanted you to use newsprint   I love newsprint, so making another Christmas card for my stash was a great thing to do today.  I told myself I was going to make a Christmas card each week, and I have not done very well with that goal.  Maybe I will step it up now that it is almost June!  YIKES!

The first thing I did was make the tag using the Lawn Fawn Tag You're It die.  I made one out of Cherry Cobbler and one out of some newsprint I had in my stash.   It is a discontinued Stampin' Up! DSP.  I adhered them together to make the newsprint stronger.  It is a thin paper.  I then spent the next hour and wasted several sheets of Cherry Cobbler to make the base of the panel.  After I finally had one that worked, I cut the top layer out of some old Christmas DSP from Stampin' Up!.  I am not sure the name of the set.

The poinsettias were cut using the Memory Box-Trio Poinsettia Dies.  I cut them several times in order to have extra leaves to create the dimension.  I am pleased with the way they turned out.  I added a few pearls to the centers.  I heat embossed the sentiment with Versa Fine Black ink and used clear embossing powder to make it shiny.  It is from "Petite Pairs" by Stampin' Up!

A  Very Vanilla bow using seam binding was added to the top of the card in the tag.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Making a Christmas card made is easier to think "COOL" thoughts!

I always love to hear from you so, please leave a comment!

ENJOY your weekend!

Until next time!
Hugs,
Claire

  3. I just love seeing Christmas cards in the middle of Spring, yours is so lovely!! I love the news print tag, it fits just perfect with the sketch PPA shared this week. I too had to sit back and study it, I opted to make an attempt at a masculine card, which is in itself, a challenge for me, I'm not very good at it.
Love the little poinsettia flowers with their pearly centers, thank you so much for sharing.
