Fabulous! --The Card Concept #65

January 24, 2017

Today I am playing along with The Card Concept!  I love this challenge and I am always inspired by all the DT cards.  I really enjoy seeing the variety of styles and learn so much from their examples.

My favorite is big, bold colors, and this challenge has it!  I used the colors and the inspiration from the vintage photos for my card.

I created a Clean and Simple card.  This is a rarity for me because I love lots of layers and stuff!  LOL!

My base card is white.  I added a piece of orange paper on the top.  Then, I created the watercolored background using Picked Raspberry Tim Holtz Distress ink.  I decided to stamp the Martini Lady  from Suzy Says Stamps on white paper and fussy cut her for a darker image.  It is very difficult to achieve this image if you just stamp on the watercolor paper.  I wanted her to be the focal point.  The sentiment is created by using Spiced Marmalade Distress ink on watercolored paper and then using the "fabulous" word die from The Ton and cut it out three times.  I added pearls for her necklace and earrings.

I hope you enjoyed my card today!  Thanks for stopping by!

Thankful For A Friend Like You--The Card Concept 40

September 25, 2015

I am playing along with The Card Concept challenge!  I absolutely love the "Forest Friends" theme this week.  It gave me the perfect opportunity to use two of my favorite stamp sets from SugarPea Designs.  I also want to enter my card to the Shopping Our Stash Weekly Challenge.  The theme is "show us your smile"!  These little critters are so happy to be friends.  I think their smiles are precious!

My base card is white.  (5 1/2 X 4 1/4)  The next layer is Basic Black. (5 1/4 X 4)  I used watercolor paper (5 X 3 3/4) for the top layer.  I used Tim Holtz Distress inks and a blending tool to create the night scene.  The star stamp is from Mama Elephant-Tiny Heroes.  I stamped the stars with Versa Fine ink and heat embossed them with white embossing powder.   The sentiment is stamped in black Versa Fine ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Two hillside borders were cut with the Lawn Fawn Hillside Borders on watercolor paper.  Distress inks were blended on them.  They were adhered with foam tape.  The little squirrel and fox are from the stamp sets Foxy Friends and Nuts About You from SugarPea Designs.  A variety of Copic Markers were used and then I fussy cut them and adhered them with foam tape.

Wink of Stella was added in spots on the little critters to make them shine.

My style for the challenge is clean and layered.  Please leave a comment and let me know your thoughts.  I love to hear from you!

Wishing you a fantastic weekend!

Hugs,
Claire
