God's Promises-PP #247

June 1, 2015

It's Sunday and time for another challenge at The Paper Players!  We sure enjoyed all of your fabulous creations last week using our sketch!

This week it is time for a FUN BINGO challenge!  This week the lovely Laurie is our hostess!  I always love Bingo week.  It allows your imagination to run wild with ideas for your projects!   Have fun!

I decided to play the bottom row this week.  (A die cut, patterned paper and yellow)

While looking through stamps that I never use, I found this fabulous stamp set by Verve Stamps--Shining Star.  I love this sentiment and decided to make it the focal point on my card.  I love how bright and cheery the yellow looks!  Yellow is a color that I don't use often, but I am a big fan of Crushed Curry.  It has always been my favorite shade of yellow .  Add a little pop of red and I am happy!

I cut a white circle with my stitched dies and then stamped the sentiment with Versa Fine Black ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.

My base card is Crushed Curry (5 1/2 X 4 1/4).  I made two white scalloped edges using my My Favorite Things -Blueprints #14.  I adhered them on a panel made from the new Stampin' Up "Cherry on Top" Designer Series Paper stack. This paper pack will be available this week on my Stampin' Up! Site!   I  embossed the panel using the perfect polka dots embossing folder.  The panel was adhered on the base card and  I added 3 red stars cut with my star dies and added sparkling clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

Mask-erade Class - More Masking Paper-Homework Day 2

May 30, 2015

I am posting my homework for Day 2 of the Mask-erade Class.  I am learning so much and enjoying all the wonderful techniques and amazing projects!

Day 2 was about using More Masking Paper!

The first thing I did to create my card was make a mask out of a "Floral Frames" die by Stampin' Up! on masking paper.  I attached it to a white piece of card stock (3 3/4"X 5")  I applied Real Red ink to a "retired" plaid background stamp from Stampin' Up!  I stamped it on top of the mask and covered the rest of the piece of card stock.  I removed the mask and had a large white area to work with for the rest of the flowers.

I stamped the flowers and leaves using my new Altenew Stamps-Scribbled Flowers.  I used the new Delightful Dijon (available June 2nd) Crushed Curry, Tempting Turquoise and Wild Wasabi inks to complete the floral portion.
I adhered the panel to a Crushed Curry layer (5 1/4" x 4") and then attached it to a white base card (5 1/2 x 4 1/4").  This is definitely a technique I will try again.  So much fun to learn new things!  Old teachers never die---they just lose their class!  LOL!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!  Please leave a comment and let me hear from you!

Have a wonderful night!

Claire

SMILE--Friday Mashup 211-Addicted To Stamps--Mask-erade homework Day 3

May 30, 2015

I have been participating in the Mask-erade Classes this week.  I have really enjoyed learning so many new techniques and encourage you to try some of these things to.  My card today is for my Day 3 homework, but also for the Friday Mashup Challenge and the Addicted to Stamps Challenge.  The sketch was perfect for my card and I had to use watercoloring in my homework.  The anything goes challenge at Addicted to Stamps made it a win-win.  Today's card is used by masking my flowers with rubber cement.  I hope you enjoy my card!

    This week's Mashup! Challenge is:
  • Create a project with "Watercoloring".
  • Create a project using "the Sketch".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Watercolored Project using the Sketch".
My card features one of my all time favorite flower stamps, Regarding Dahlias by Stampin' Up!  (Retiring June 2nd!)  It always inks so nicely, gives a beautiful result and lasting impression!  I stamped the first flower in the corner.  I then stamped the flower on masking paper, cut it out and used it to mask the first stamped flower.  I stamped two more flowers after applying the mask.  I painted rubber cement over the dahlias and let them dry for several hours.  I came back and decided to us my Tim Holtz distress inks for the watercoloring.  I used three different shades of ink.  Peacock Feathers, Peeled Paint and Broken China.  I added a little water to the inks and let it all run together.

After the watercoloring dried, I stamped the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp-Happy and Smile in black Versa Fine ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  It is so shiny and perfect!

I am very happy with the way my card turned out.  It is my first attempt at this new skill and plan to keep practicing!  I used my fingers to rub off all the rubber cement.  It was like being in Elementary School again!  I still love the smell of rubber cement!  I mounted the finished panel on black card stock and mounted it on white.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Please leave a comment if you have time!  It means so much to me to hear from you!

Have a fantastic evening!

Hugs!
