Nutty or Nice? Create With Connie & Mary Blog Hop Week 2

October 25, 2014

Welcome to Week 2 of the Create With Connie & Mary Holiday Collection Blog Hop!!!!  We are so excited and know you will love all the fabulous ideas and inspiration!  You should have arrived here from Bronwyn Eastley's fabulous blog.  She is so creative!!!!

This week I am featuring a card using the "Santa Stache" stamp set!  At first glance, I must admit I wasn't sure I would use this set.  But, after seeing some examples on other sites, I knew it was a MUST!  I just love it now!  I have made several cards using the Santa and the Nutcracker and find they are some of my favorite cards that I have created this season.

Today, I wanted to make a very masculine card for a guy friend for Christmas so, I pulled out my "Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack" and chose the Early Expresso and Sahara Sand piece for my background.  I decided on the Nutcracker image and went to work.  I hope you will enjoy my card!

The base card is Early Expresso (5 1/2" X 4 1/4") and the next layer is Sahara Sand (5 1/4" X 4").  I cut the Trim the Tree DSP (5" X 3 3/4") and adhered all the layers together using Snail Adhesive.  I stamped the Nutcracker twice using Momento Black Ink on Whisper White Paper.  I used my Blendabilities to color the Nutcracker.  I colored the mustache on the second nutcracker and used the Mustache Die to cut it out.  I decided I wanted his hat to be more stylish so, I stamped another Nutcracker on the DSP and cut out the section of his hat to paper piece on the colored Nutcracker.  I adhered the mustache using Stampin' Dimensionls.  I added Sahara Sand Candy Dots to his hat.

Next, I cut a piece of Sahara Sand paper with a Window Frame Framelit to make a background for the Nutcracker.  I embossed it using the stripes embossing folder.  I adhered it to the card base and the used Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the Nutcracker.  I stamped the sentiment on Whisper White using Early Expresso ink and punched it out using the Word Window punch.  I also punched a piece of Early Expresso paper with the Modern Label Punch to accent the sentiment.  I used dimensionals behind the sentiment.  I also, added two more Sahara Sand Candy Dots to complete the card.  I completed the inside of the card with Sahara Sand and a strip of the DSP.  I used the sentiment in the same stamp set.

I sure hope you enjoyed my card!  Please leave a comment and let me know your thoughts.  I always love to hear from you!
