CHEERS Paper Players Challenge PP536

 April 10, 2021

It is Sunday and you know what that means!  It's time for a new challenge at The Paper Players!

The lovely LeAnne is our hostess this week and she has a beautiful color challenge for all of us!  We can't wait to see all of your amazing projects!

When I saw this color palette, I knew just what I wanted to do! I wanted to use my MFT Wine Glass Shaker Die because I instantly thought of red wine when I saw the Merry Merlot color.  My card is created on a white card base.  I added a layer of Crumb Cake that I embossed with a folder I found in my stash.  I cut the wine glasses using the die from Misty Moonlight card stock.  I used the Merry Merlot ink and smeared a little on some watercolor paper.  I then sprayed it with water and let it run so it looked like wine in a glass.  I cut the wine section with the die and paper pieced it in the glass.  I added lots of glossy accents on the wine section and Wink of Stella on the Misty Moonlight glass.  The "CHEERS" was cut with a die I found in my stash.  After letting the glossy accents dry for 24 hours, I went outside to get a picture.  Wouldn't you know, a gush of wind came and blew my card in the swimming pool!!!  I was so upset.  All that work and watching it float in the water.  I got the net and rescued it.  Then after it dried, I decided to try to salvage it.  I added a new card base and I was pretty pleased with it.  I know it has some imperfections from the water, but it didn't look that bad.  I didn't have time to make another card because three of my grand children are here for the week.  I finally got it dry and ready to go again.  I went out in the sprinkles and it got raindrops on it.  You can see them in the picture.  I think maybe this card was snake bit.  Oh well, it is the best I could do for this week.  I hope y'all have better luck than I did!

  1. Oh Claire...you are such a patience, persevering stamper! Thanks for rescuing this very cool card and re-doing it! I LOVE your take on the colors....John (who loves Merlot) would especially like these wine glasses full of vino! Enjoy your grandkids and thanks for making my colors look great, despite the raindrops (which I can barely see!)!

  4. Oh, Claire! Although it may not have seemed funny at the time, I really got a kick out of hearing about your "card rescue". Your card turned out wonderful. I LOVE the wine. Since I am someone who often distresses her cards, the raindrops are perfect! Enjoy your grandkids!

  5. Hi Claire, your wine is delicious! Love all the care you took to create it and your fortitude is commendable! I have to agree with Ann, I love distressed cards and I think the raindrops give your design that bit of something special!

  6. Oh my goodness after all that effort you put into those wine glasses, that look realistic by the way. What are the chances that it would end up in the pool! I'm sorry that your mishap made me enjoy your post a little bit too much. Great card and way to not throw in the towel! No pun intended. Enjoy your week.
