You Shore Are Sweet-PP252

July 5, 2015

I hope you had a fabulous Fourth of July!  We enjoyed special time with my son and his beautiful family!  We celebrated Miss Victoria's 3rd birthday and Robert's 1st birthday.  It was a wonderful day!  Lots of laughs and so many smiles!

It's Sunday and time for a new challenge at The Paper Players!  The amazing, Ann is our hostess this week!  The "Great Outdoors" is the theme.  We can't wait to see what you create!  Oh, the possibilities are endless!

When I think of the "Great Outdoors", I guess my first thought is the ocean.  Growing up in the Mid-West didn't allow for many beach visits.  I have always been fascinated with the ocean and it vastness.  So, I decided, I would make a card featuring one of my favorite places.

My card was created using the SugarPea Designs, "SeaSideWishes" stamp set.  I stamped the little girl, the crab and the shells using black Momento ink.  I colored them with Copic Markers.  I fussy cut them and set the aside while I worked on the rest of my card.

My base card is Whisper White.  (5 1/2 X 4 1/4).  The next layer is black (5 1/4 X 4)  The next layer is from the Authentique "Seaside" paper pack.  (5 X 3 3/4)  The next two layers are black rectangles topped with other different patterns from the same paper pack.  I cut a black circle using circle dies and then I cut a white sunburst circle and sponged it with Marina Mist ink.  The girl, the crab and shells were attached using foam tape for dimension.  Three Marina Mist candy dots were added for fun.

I am so glad you stopped by my blog today.  Please leave a comment and let me know your thoughts.  I love to hear from you!

  4. Claire, what a fabulous photo of you and the family - and so much to celebrate. I know you will have had a wonderful day! Like you, I grew up in the middle of the country and trips to the seaside were very rare and I long to go there. Your card is a perfect representation of that wonderful sense of freedom. Fabulous coloring, too. Thanks for making me smile

  6. What a gorgeous card Claire! I miss the seaside - I grew up living quite close to the coast, yet where I live now is the most central part of the UK and couldn't be further from it! This little girl is so cute and beautifully coloured and the background paper reminds me of seaweed - just lovely!
